U-42 47 Chronograph (6472)
U-42 53 Chronograph (6475)
The U-42 is based on the original design found by Italo Fontana's father, Ilvo. When Ilvo designed a watch for divers, he envisaged an era where watches would have the crown on the left so as to open up hand movement. Ilvo also designed the original U-BOAT timepieces to clearly mark the 12, 4 and 8 o'clock positions whilst leaving the dial clutter-free. Simplicity was king at this stage.
The Titanium case is extremely resistant to corrosion, rust and salt-water and is 43% lighter than steel whilst being twice as strong as aluminium.
The bezel rotates in both directions and locks down using the side-hook at 4 o'clock. Gone are the days of turning the bezel all the way round when it accidentally clicks out of position.
The crown swivels 90 degrees to be in line with the 9 and 3 o'clock markers and locks back down again when the time/date have been changed.
